may be completed within the first hour of arriving at work on the subsequent work day. <br /> This is not intended to conflict with payroll deadlines for paperwork. <br /> Timecards will be checked periodically throughout the pay period for completeness and <br /> accuracy. Timecards must be made available for review/audit upon request by the <br /> employee's supervisor. <br /> Time Deductions for Breaks <br /> Field workers generally will receive one fifteen minute paid break in the morning and one <br /> in the afternoon; and will receive a 30 minute unpaid lunch break during each shift. <br /> Office employees receive a 60 minute break for lunch, 30 minutes of which is paid in lieu <br /> of having two fifteen minute breaks, morning and afternoon. The other 30 minutes of the <br /> office employees' 60 minute lunch break is unpaid. Please see below under "Ensuring <br /> Accuracy of Timekeeping Reports"for important information about pay practices affecting <br /> unpaid lunch breaks. <br /> Ensuring Accuracy of Timekeeping Reports <br /> Non-exempt employees are responsible for,and must take steps to ensure,the accuracy and <br /> completeness of time reporting data collected. This is critically important because <br /> the Utilities relies on such submissions in carrying out its duty to properly pay wages and <br /> other forms of compensation. Furthermore,knowingly submitting or approving inaccurate <br /> time reporting data is a violation of policy and may subject the person to disciplinary <br /> action. <br /> PLEASE NOTE: By submitting time reporting data a non-exempt employee is attesting to <br /> the accuracy of the time data reflected on the timecard and/or in the report. <br /> PLEASE NOTE FURTHER: Because of the regularity of our break and work schedules, <br /> the Utilities's timekeeping systems are set to automatically Eleduetdeducts scheduled <br /> unpaid lunch breaks. If an employee does not receive the 30 minute unpaid lunch break on <br /> any given shift,the Utilities will pay you for that 30 minutes. We can do so,however,only <br /> if you notify us of the non that you did not get your break <br /> . . . .. . ' . It is your responsibility to provide this notice to <br /> your supervisor. A pattern of not taking unpaid lunch breaks may subject an employee to <br /> discipline; but it will never result in the Utilities failing or refusing to pay for such time. <br /> Special Note About Work Performed Outside of Scheduled Times and Places <br /> Each non-exempt employee must accurately record and properly report all time spent <br /> performing work for the Utilities,regardless of the location where such work is performed. <br /> Employees generally should not perform work at times or places outside of the times and <br /> places they are scheduled to work by the Utilities.
