<br />A number of complementary major transit investments have previously been proposed and/or are . <br />currently being proposed that would be integrated with the proposed Northstar commuter rail <br />service. These transit investments include: <br /> <br />· Hiawatha LRT service between downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America in <br />Bloomington <br />· Northeast Corridor LRT service between downtown Minneapolis and the Northtown Shopping <br />Center <br />· Northeast Corridor busway facility on exclusive right-of-way between downtown Minneapolis <br />and the Northtown Transit Hub <br /> <br />Additionally, existing express and local bus services would be integrated with the proposed <br />Northstar commuter rail service. Selected services include: <br /> <br />· 1-94 express bus service between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul <br />· Local bus service between downtown Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota <br /> <br />Due to the intermodal connections of each of the distinct transit systems it is recommended that <br />the following two modal elements be dropped from the multi-modal transportation strategies as <br />discrete options. <br /> <br />· Commuter Rail with Anoka County LRT <br />· Commuter Rail with Anoka County HOV <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Additionally, it is recommended to include the following transit systems and services as potential <br />intermodal connections with the Northstar commuter rail: <br /> <br />· Hiawatha LR T service <br />· Northeast LRT service <br />· Northeast Busway service <br />· 1-94 express bus service <br />· TH 10 Express Bus <br />· Local bus service <br /> <br />3. DEFINITION OF HIGHWAY EV ALVA TION CRITERIA <br /> <br />The preliminary highway evaluation criteria were intended to identify operational, environmental <br />and cost impacts so severe as to preclude implementation of a highway option.
