Project cost is estimated at$775 with a completion date of early May,2017. <br /> 5.3 CST Engineering Class <br /> Commission members discussed the Solar Picnic Table project proposed by the <br /> Engineering Class at St. Thomas. Suzanne will follow up on the following items: <br /> Confirm Table Design#5 is the final selection and request building specs be <br /> forwarded to us. <br /> Discuss construction and installation options/cost with Tim Sevcik in Parks.Tim <br /> prefers a contractor is utilized to construct the table due to limited staff resources. <br /> Hiring a contractor and cost of a cement slab could increase the project cost from <br /> $6400 to $10,000. <br /> Noting this,Commissioner Hanson suggested the possibility of obtaining business <br /> donations (directly and through the Chamber of Commerce). <br /> The Commissioners support using recycled material to build the table vs. the <br /> proposed Cedartone pressure treated lumber. This information has been passed onto <br /> the Engineer Class. <br /> 5.4 Climate Smart Municipalities <br /> Sagstetter informed the Commission that we will be hosting an intern from <br /> Ludinghausen, Germany this spring(late April/early May), for a 5 month period. <br /> Jonas Scholz is an Environment Engineer student in Munster and has requested an <br /> international internship in Minnesota. <br /> Potential projects for him include: <br /> ➢ Updating the Interactive Landfill Education Center <br /> ➢ Water resources (drinking,ground, stormwater) <br /> ➢ Educational programs for schools / community center (renewable,waste stream <br /> & conservation) <br /> ➢ Electric transportation <br /> ➢ Wastewater (green roof;public outreach on new facility compared to old pant) <br /> 5.5 The SustainER <br /> Commissioner Hoskins stated that 3 students currently participating in this program. <br /> He suggested that the March meeting be cancelled until the Environmental <br /> Coordinator positon is filled. The April and May meetings will be held as scheduled. <br /> All agreed that staff and the ECC need to provide the students with more direction <br /> and support. <br /> 6.
