Parks&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 2 <br /> August 10,2016 <br /> Mr. Benoit shared an update of how the 2016 Safety Camp went. <br /> 6. Action Items <br /> 6.1 Orono Park Skate Park <br /> Mr. Benoit presented his staff report. Introduced Chris Turner who reported on <br /> skate park design and how it will keep the skaters off the sidewalks in town. <br /> Chair Anderson asked about grading the skate park site. <br /> Mr. Benoit shared that the construction documents will contain the grading line item <br /> and once the plan is approved and funding secured the construction documents will <br /> be presented. <br /> Commission members discussed the parking lot near the proposed skate park site <br /> and if the park should be shifted to accommodate a walking trail. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Sagan and seconded by Commissioner Nystrom to <br /> accept staff recommendation to recommend to City Council to adopt the <br /> Orono Park Skate Park plan as indicated and keeping the original location • <br /> discussed. Motion carried 6-0. <br /> 6.2 Capital Park Projects Priorities <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report, stating that the commission should consider <br /> projects that could appeal to a broad range of voters. <br /> Commissioner Holmgren asked why the park projects went from 3,000,000- <br /> 5,000,000 to 2,000,000. <br /> Councilmember Wagner shared that the council believed it was too much to ask for <br /> and wanted to keep the bond to 30,000,000. <br /> Chair Anderson stated that Orono Park and YAC should be built out, fit Hillside <br /> City Park into one the projects along with trail management. <br /> Commissioner Sagan stated that Orono Park should be built out without the splash <br /> pad,put in half the field lights and cut out the east side trails. <br /> Commissioner Ahlness asked if the parking lot can be removed from the list. <br /> rellIEREI er • <br /> INATUPEI <br />
