7. Actively promote the linkage between Lion's Park and the <br />Mississippi River through a greenway concept as <br />illustrated in the Plan. Explore opportunities to provide <br />safe, attractive pedestrian crossings of the railroad tracks <br />and highway to connect the areas. <br />8. Promote a wide variety of people -generating activities <br />(e.g. farmers market, concerts, street dances, sidewalk <br />sales, etc.) in addition to the currently scheduled River's <br />Edge Commons Park activities. <br />9. Explore acquisition or use of Bailey point and Houlton <br />Farm property as a way to expand the trail in the short <br />term, and long term options to create a nature park that <br />may include educational and interpretive amenities along <br />the Mississippi and Elk Rivers. <br />10. Review and consider potential impacts of DNR Wild & <br />Scenic River Standards on riverfront development in <br />order to protect the integrity of the bluff. <br />11. Partner with the community's "Elk River Area Arts <br />Alliance" to explore a permanent arts center to be located <br />within the Study Area. <br />12.
