_ / 3 (y
Paten Services Supervisor Report
To: Elk River Library Board
CC: William Hollerich, LSC
From: Brandi Canter, Lead PSS
Date: December 13, 2016
I'm sorry that I can't join you this evening, however I'm thrilled that you will have the opportunity to spend
some time with our Executive Director.I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and 1 so appreciate
all the work that you have done, for the library over the past year.
Minnesota Loves Libraries
Minnesota Loves Libraries is a statewide effort sponsored by the Council of Regional Public
Library System administrators (CRPLSA) to gather stories from library users about why they
love their library and how their library has made a difference in their lives. These stories will be
shared with legislators on Minnesota Library Legislative Day in March 2017 at the state Capitol.
Great River will be joining in the campaign by inviting patrons to share how libraries have made
a difference in their lives using the MLL postcards. Because Legislators want to hear from the
communities they represent, we ask that patrons complete the cards with their name and address.
Instead of mailing the cards, we will hand-deliver the cards at Library Legislative Day: each
Representative and Senator in our area will receive the postcards from patrons in their district.
There is also a Minnesota Loves Libraries website (http://mnloveslibraries.crplsa.info/about-
minnesota-loves-libraries/) where patrons can submit their stories online.
I'm sending along postcards for you and to share, as well as buttons for you.
Asset Listing as Part of Local Branch Agreements
The updated branch agreements, to be approved by Cities by the end of June, 2017, will include
an asset listing of library furnishings and equipment owned by the City. Early next year local
staff and volunteers will work with the City to develop this listing. Furnishings that have been
donated 'to the library' by the Friends and other groups will be added to this list as well. We
hope that this process will provide additional clarity for each party's level of investment and
responsibility.
1
