.

.

.

Mr. Pat Klaers
October 23, 2000
Page Two

We have estimated approximately 38,000 square feet of sidewalk area as shown on the
attached exhibit. If this entire area were to be replaced with a concrete paver product on an
aggregate/sand base material, which is the lower priced alternative, the construction cost for
this entire area would be approximately $350,000. As a comparison, to use standard concrete
sidewalk over this area would be approximately $175,000. Both these estimates include
removing the existing sidewalk. The one difference is the cost estimate for regular concrete
sidewalk assumes that the existing sidewalk on Lowell Avenue between Main Street and TH 10
would not be replaced. We have presented these numbers as construction costs and have not
added overhead, because with this type of project, the overhead is not necessarily a function of
the type of sidewalk chosen. Overhead for either of these would be approximately the same.
Of course, there are many other alternatives where a combination of concrete pavers and
regular sidewalk could be used. For example, if there was approximately 50% of each, adding
together 50% of each estimated construction cost would give the typical construction cost
range.

If you have any questions or would like further information regarding this issue, please call.

Sincerely,

Howard R.
