Rivers Edge Meeting Minutes Wednesday April 8, 2015 <br />2:30 PM Granite Shores Community Room <br />Present: Annie Deckert(Decklan Group). Steve Swan (Club Euphoria), Stacy Reiseck (Ails <br />Alliance, fenniver Wagner (Open Reel Media), Amanda Othoudt (City of Elk River), Michael <br />Hecker (City of Elk River), Steve Benoit (City of Elk River), Karen Wingard (City of Elk River), <br />Colleen Eddy (City of Elk River), Zach Carlton (City of Elk River), Kevin Leistico (Dare's <br />Funeral 1--lome), Fred McCoy (McCoy's Pub), Tanna Houlton (First National Bank of Elk River), <br />Wendy Sirnenson (Kemper Drug) <br />Treasurer's Report $4723.21 <br />Secretary's Report: Wendy <br />A motion was made to approve the minutes of the March meeting by Annie and seconded by Jen. <br />Motion carried. We need to clarify which ads that The Bank of Elk River and First National <br />Bank paid for in December 2014. The intent was for Rivers Edge Group to pay for the save the <br />date/Tree Lighting Ad and the two banks were going to split the cost of the newspaper ad the <br />week before highlighting Santa's visit and downtown activities the day of the event. <br />Old Business <br />City Update <br />Welcome our new Economic Development Director, Amanda Othouft came from Becker - <br />community development director. Also had worked for a St Cloud land development company. <br />Amanda has a bachelor's degree in planning and community development and rninors in <br />economics and heritage preservation <br />Downtown Beautification: Zach Carlton. Proposed beautification plan for side of King Ave <br />parking lot. Would replace rock along highway 10 with perennials. Design would have sidewalks <br />and trails through perennials, leave a spot for public sculpture. Previously was irrigation in that <br />area and hopefully it is still functional. Plan would continue sidewalk design behind Kemper <br />Drug, and Tax Business <br />Also planning to replace boulevard trees Downtown as needed. Adding tree grate and amending <br />soils $3000 per tree planting (inch and '/;z minimum diameter trees). Plans are also being <br />considered to landscape the other side of highway 10 in 2016. <br />Lights on Downtown trees and light poles- HRA meeting was held on Monday night April 6th. <br />Wendy and Jennifer attended the meeting. Discussion was held about lights on trees and poles. <br />Question about aesthetics and maintenance of lights in downtown area. Identified ways to <br />address putting lights on tree. First talked to park and rec and also checked with outside agency <br />to get price quotes. Rainbow holiday lights, $5,600 to put up, take down and store. $4,700 <br />estimate from, second company using our lights. HRA agreed that it looks nice to have lights on <br />year round. Wendy volunteered the Rivers Edge Group to take the lights down to save the $750 <br />to $1500 estimate to take down from the outside agencies. Fred estimated that there are approx. <br />cases with a dozen lights in each case. Consensus was that should replace all lights with <br />
