Rivers Edge Downtown Business Meeting May 13, 2015 <br />Meeting was called to order at 2:30 PM in the Granite Shores Community Room. Present were; <br />Steve Benoit (City of Elk River Park and Rec), Rhonda Magnussen (Law Office), Annie Deckert <br />(Decklan Group), Jennifer Wagner (Open Reel Media), Matt Pagh (Integrity Insurance Group), <br />Steve Swan (Elk River Health and Nutrition), Shanna Donnette (Worth Repeating), Allison <br />Moser(Arts Alliance), Stacy Reiseck (Arts Alliance), Tamara Ackerman (Avalon Salon), Amanda <br />Othoudt (City of Elk River), Colleen Eddy (City of Elk River), Wendy Simenson (Kemper Drug) <br />Treasurers Report: <br />Secretary's report: Minutes were accepted as written. <br />City Update: Amanda got revised bids for downtown lights. Strategic plan on EDA agenda for <br />meeting this Monday. Demolition Loan program in the works. Housing Tif passed. Budget <br />discussions coming up. Two bids Rainbow Holiday Design and Emerald design. HRA said that <br />they would give $ 4000 towards lights for trees and poles downtown. Both new bids are for c6 <br />Icd warm lights. $5595.00 from Emerald and $4400 from Rainbow Holiday Design. Two strands <br />per pole. And 2 to four strands per tree. Motion for Rivers Edge Business Association to <br />contribute the $400 difference between Rainbow holiday design bid plus the maintenance for a <br />year. Jennifer moved Annie seconded motion passed. Amanda will make sure all of the outlets <br />work. Lights will be on 365 days a year. <br />Requests for HRA monies need to be into HRA by June 1St to be included in their 2016 budget <br />discussions. <br />Park and Rec Update: We will soon be getting emails from park and rec to see if your <br />downtown business is interested in promoting itself at concert series. <br />Michael Hecker downtown park project: clarifying that is a concept. Hoping to accomplish <br />phase 1 this year to add additional seating In the park. Renovation would not take place until <br />fall of 2015. If we can't do the seating extention this year, won't take trees out. Once seating is <br />approved the tree moving will be addressed. <br />ArtSoup: Stacy passed out posters and sponsorship forms for Artsoup. Quite a few booth <br />applications have been turned in. Outside vendors for food plus local restaurants. Free fun for <br />the whole family. Juried art exhibit. Balloon artists, music, kids art, Art for sale. There will be <br />shuttle service from the high school to downtown. Big baseball tournament at Lake Orono Park <br />that weekend — would be beneficial to have the event posted at the tournament. <br />Rivers Edge promo items. 350 people in community took survey — people want tshirts, <br />sweatshirts, travel mugs, shopping bags, pens, calendar of events with downtown promotions. <br />Annie suggested having a subcommittee: Rhonda, Colleen, Jennifer and Tamara said they would <br />help. How much do we want to spend. Suggestion for committee to ask businesses how many <br />they would be willing to sell. Postcard with facebook picture page? <br />
