<br />. <br />City of ~ <br />Elk <br /> <br /> <br />Item # 4.4.8. <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Pat Klaers, City Admi~~ator <br /> <br />October 9,2000 r <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Consider Appointment of Allen Pudlick to <br />Full-Time Status <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The proposed 2001 budget includes funds for Allen Pudlick to go to full-time <br />status. Allen works in government buildings as a Building Custodian. <br />Currently, his main functions are to clean at city hall and the library under <br />the direction of Sue Herrboldt (who is under the supervision of Phil Hals). <br /> <br />The additional work for Allen will include outside maintenance at both the <br />library and city hall, which includes sidewalk snow removal in the winter and <br />some mowing/landscape maintenance in the summer. Additionally in the <br />winter we will have Allen work about eight hours a week cleaning at the Ice <br />Arena. This work will be mostly on Fridays and the Ice Arena will be charged <br />for his services. Using Allen at the Arena on Fridays will allow the part-time <br />employees on Thursday evening to leave at a more reasonable time after <br />games and, quite frankly, Allen will be able to do a better cleaning job then <br />some of the part-time employees do at the end of a long day. <br /> <br />I would like for the Council to consider moving Allen to full-time status on <br />October 16, 2000, rather than waiting until 2001. The 2000 government <br />building budget projected Allen to begin in January and he did not begin until <br />March, so some excess funds are available in this budget for these additional <br />hours. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />It is recommended that the City Council promote Allen Pudlick to full-time <br />. status effective Monday, October 16, 2000. <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway.
