Staff is proposing to amend the following language: <br /> Sec. 30-1022—C-1 central business district. <br /> (d) Conditional uses. Conditional uses in the C-1 district are as follows: <br /> (19) Commercial Kennel provided the following conditions are met: <br /> (a) no long term boarding exceeding 14 days takes place <br /> (b) no breeding for compensation or sale takes place <br /> (c) the sale of animals shall not take place <br /> The applicant requested the boarding limit to exceed 14 days. The current two-week limit is a <br /> recommendation from staff,and a specific timeframe was not requested by the applicant.The intent of <br /> the time limit is to ensure the safety of the animals and city residents within small lot/higher density <br /> commercial areas is preserved. Commercial kennels are typically located in the R-1 a zoning district where <br /> the minimum lot size is 2.5 acres, and the minimum distance between buildings would be 40 feet.
