<br /> <br />City of Elk River <br />Recreation Coordinator <br />Position Description <br /> <br />Department: Immediate Supervisor: <br /> Parks and Recreation Recreation Manager <br />Pay Grade: I FLSA Status: I Last Updated: (date) <br /> 8 Non-Exempt 1/11/05 <br />Positions Supervised: <br /> Assists in supervision of some seasonal staff. <br /> Position Summary <br />The Recreation Coordinator position is responsible for the scheduling and coordinating of <br />recreational facilities as well as assisting in the scheduling and coordination of programming <br />opportunities. They also provide clerical support for the department. <br /> <br />Essential Functions <br /> <br />1. Design, Plan, Organize, and Administer Recreational Programs and Activities. <br />A. Reserve facilities for programs and activities. <br />B. Manage program fee structure to cover costs and assure affordability. <br />C. Assure adequate staffIng and supplies for programs and activities. <br />D. Prepare program descriptions for all promotional material. <br />E. Actively promote and publicize programs offered. <br />F. Assist with the coordinating of all marketing for these activities. <br />G. Work various programs as needed. <br /> <br />2. Perform Support Services for Recreation Facilities. <br />A. Locate and reserve facilities/athletic fields. <br />B. Coordinate schedules to assure proper scheduling and payment procedures. <br />C. Assist with the scheduling and coordinating arrangements for activities, meetings, <br />programs, etc. <br />D. Set up and maintain meeting/activity spaces. <br /> <br />3. Perform Office Duties. <br />A. Receive and route calls/visitors. <br />B. Answer routine questions. <br />C. Greet the public. <br />D. Provide information, explanation, and assistance for departmental services, <br />programs, policies and procedures. <br />E. Register participants in recreational programs. <br /> <br />5. Perform Communication Activities. <br />A. Type/word process information. <br />B. Public speaking/presentations/community training. <br />C. Compose, edit and proofread material. <br />Page 1 <br />
