She noted that they have received four new
applications and eight projects have been completed. Ms. Eddy stated that an article on the
program is in the works for the Star News.
Discussion followed regarding the lead assessment process. Some discussion was also given
to available funds. The Commission was in agreement that they may need to look at
allocating additional funds to meet interest in the program. Ms. Eddy noted that the
informational video and the article coming in the Star News may generate even more
interest.
Commissioner Eder asked if the new applicants are looking at interior or exterior
improvements. Ms. Eddy stated that it is a mix of both. Commissioner Eder stated that
improvements to kitchens and bathrooms substantially increases the value of a home. She
felt there may be an increase in refinancing, with payoff of the HRA rehab loan.
Ms. Eddy stated there may be a workshop after next month's (October 3) regular meeting,
looking at the targeted area and possible expansion of the area. Ms. Othoudt noted that they
will also look at the Coon Rapids program, and the possibility of including the age of the
home.
