What About the Grant? • Grants up to $5,000 available based upon the project type • If the project includes two or more eligible exterior upgrades (listed below), the grant would equal 10% of the total project cost ($5,000 max) • If the project does not meet the eligible exterior upgrade requirement for the 10% grant, then the grant would equal 5% of the total project cost ($2,500 max) • Eligible exterior upgrades includes: o Altering the roofline on the front of the house o Constructing columns at the front entrance o Building a covered front porch o Adding shakes, brick or stone on the front of the home o Replacing and upgrading the front door and/or garage door o Landscaping (landscape design consultation required) o Other elements as approved What Next? Apply with the City. Submit your application BEFORE starting any of your remodeling work. Projects started prior to applying for the program will NOT be eligible! Applications can be found on the City's website: http://www.coonrapidsmn.gov/DocumentCenter/Home/View/466. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Every applicant will be required to participate in a two hour design consultation with an architect to discuss the elements of their remodeling plans. Homeowners pay only $25 and may choose to meet with any of the several participating architects. Financing Your Projects The Coon Rapids Mortgage Assistance Foundation has established a loan program to provide homeowners a low cost option for financing their Home for Generations II remodeling projects. Loans up to $50,000 with terms up to 20 years are available to qualified borrowers at the low fixed interest rate of 4.5%. Homeowner may borrow up to 100% of the improved value of the property. Access to this loan program fund will be available only through participation in the Home for Generations II program. If you apply for this loan, you will be required to submit two bids for each of your projects. The Coon Rapids Mortgage Assistance Foundation also offers other loan programs suitable for many other home improvement projects and maintenance needs.
