Call Meeting to Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof,the work session meeting of the Elk River <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission was called to order at 8:14 p.m. by Vice-Chair <br /> Kallemeyn. <br /> 2. Hillside City Park Plan and Trail Design <br /> • Mr. Hecker share staff report and introduced guests from MORC;Jay Thompson <br /> and Graydon Betts. <br /> Mr. Thompson shared MORC's proposed new trail design, sharing that is was <br /> created to work with the contours of the property with the goal of keeping the same <br /> mileage if possible with the new layout. The trail is one way and called a stacked loop <br /> trail. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that there is a proposed paved trail on the western side of the <br /> park and only intersects with the mountain bike trail two times. <br /> Mr. Thompson stated that the crossings would be best located where speeds are <br /> slower. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek shared his thoughts regarding the new trail layout design, <br /> stating he would like to see the paved trail more curved instead of straight. <br /> Council member Wagner shared she agreed with Commissioner Niziolek regarding <br /> the paved trails being curved and more active for park users. Ms.Wagner also stated <br /> that that the proposed paved trail could start out with paving one mile and doing the <br /> rest as a turf trail. <br />
