Chief of Police <br />December 20. 2004 <br /> <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Hiring of new officer <br /> <br />I am requesting permission from the Council to hire a replacement officer to fill the vacancy <br />created by the resignation of Officer Paul Schulte. <br /> <br />The candidate who has completed all phases of the hiring process and is now eligible to be <br />hired is Adam Bebeau. Adam resides in Anoka and is currently employed by the Champlin <br />Police Department. He has been an officer there for two years. Prior to that he was an <br />officer with the Willmar Police Department where he worked for over four years. He also <br />has experience working as a non-sworn security officer with the Anoka Police Department <br />where he performed security functions at the Anoka Metro Treatment Facility. He is a <br />graduate of North Hennepin Community College with an A.S. degree in Criminal Justice. <br /> <br />Adam is Intoxilyzer certified and brings to our department training and experience in <br />investigating computer crimes, advanced interviewing skills, special response tactics and <br />hotel security programs. <br /> <br />Because of his training, certifications and experience, I am requesting that he start at the first <br />year step according to the patrol union contract, and that he continue to progress through <br />the steps accordingly, reaching the second step at the end of his first year of employment <br />and top patrol at the end of his second year, as long as all conditions of probation, field <br />training and employment are met. <br /> <br />Adam will be a very valuable asset to our department as our next new officer, and I hope <br />that you support my request to both employ him and start him at the first year pay step. <br /> <br />His first date of employment would be during the second week of January, 200S-depending <br />on the 200S patrol schedule. <br /> <br />Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this new hire. <br />
