Article - Thursday, November 18, 2004 St. Paul Pioneer Press - regarding Quiet Zone <br />Rules <br /> <br />The Council may recall on the September 20'" staff provided infonnation to the City Council <br />regarding implementation of quit zones at Main Stteet, Jackson, and Proctor in response to a <br />letter received from MettoPlains relating to the Downtown Development Project. <br /> <br />At that time, the Council provided no specific direction to staff regarding MettoPlains' <br />request. The next step to implementing a quiet zone would be for the City to contact <br />Burlington Northern Sante Fe staff in Chicago to run an incident analysis on the three <br />intersections. This incident analysis will determine what supplemental safety measures <br />would be required at each crossing to implement the quiet zone per Federal Railroad <br />Authority requirements.
