• He brought an estimate from Great Northern Landscapes to replace the trees for <br /> approximately $1,700.00. He also recommended starting to replace approximately 6 trees <br /> per year over the next three to four years along the buffer line. This item will be brought <br /> back to the board for discussion at the May meeting. If approved, it would be added to the <br /> Capital Improvement Plan. <br /> Mary Eberley MOVED to replace the four trees using Great Northern Landscapes, Britt <br /> Aamodt SECONDED, motion passed 5 to 0. <br /> 5.5 Rodney also recommended the board consider asphalting the easement that <br /> goes from the parking lot to Denver St. This would eliminate the damage done to the grass <br /> in the winter when city staff plows this easement. This will be on the May agenda. <br /> 6. GENERAL BUSINESS <br /> 6.1 Librarian's Report: <br /> Will shared how the new procedure for submitting work orders to the city for things such as <br /> window repair, pest control, ect, works. The library hosted a successful story time with <br /> author David LaRochelle and illustrator Mike Wohnoutka. Their collaboration, MOO, was <br /> read aloud and children were able to create their own story. <br /> 6.2 Regional Supervisor's Report: Brandi reported that the Executive Director <br /> search has been narrowed to six candidates. The board is also looking to hire for an <br /> associate HR positon that is currently open. GRRL is working on a pilot project to facilitate <br /> registering students for public library cards, in light of the growing need for online tools and <br /> databases. Legacy funding ends in June. Regional Library Basic System Support(RLBSS) <br /> 111 funding is GRRL's second largest funding source and has only been increased once in the <br /> last 20 years. <br /> 6.3 Mary Eberley's Report: Since being appointed to the GRRL Mary has <br /> attended 2 meetings, with the primary focus of the board currently being to hire a new <br /> Executive Director. The board will meet monthly for the next 6 months and the April meeting <br /> will begin the initial budget process for the upcoming year. <br /> 6.4 Old Business <br /> none <br /> 6.5 New Business <br /> • Artist Carl Zachmann's windmill artwork has won a citywide contest and <br /> will be installed near the front entrance of the library. The Board had <br /> issues with the proposed location of the artwork and expressed frustration <br /> at not being notified of the contest itself. Board Chair will contact Colleen <br /> Eddy, the city's Economic Development Specialist to get details and will <br /> update Board at the May meeting. <br /> • Friends of the Library are wanting to hang a large banner on the library <br /> for the book sale. To hang the banner, hooks would be installed into the <br /> building. <br /> Mary Eberley MOVED to approve the banner hanging on the building if <br /> this meets city code and is approved by Gary Lore, City Building <br /> Supervisor, Britt Aamodt seconded, motion passed 4 to 1. Wille Jackson <br /> opposed. <br /> 411 • Older art work was found in storage including a large number of prints. <br /> Will will consult with Nancy Gongoll and Mick Stoffers to see if the art <br /> work belongs to the library and what should be done with it. <br /> March 24, 2015 Page 2 <br />
