West, Fire Chief <br /> <br />BAd <br /> <br />DATE: December 13, 2004 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Fire Prevention Specialist <br /> <br />I am pleased to report that Jeff Smith has accepted the position of Fire Prevention Specialist with <br />the City of Elk River Fire Department. Jeff is a 16-year member of the Elk River Fire Department <br />and an EMT with the Elk River Ambulance Service. Jeff is a life-long resident of Elk River and an <br />active member of the community. <br /> <br />Jeff will begin the position of Fire Prevention Specialist beginning January 3, 2005 with a starting <br />wage of $20.00 per hour. Jeff will receive benefits consistent with the city's personnel policy. <br />After successful completion of a 6-month orientation period, Jeff's pay will increase to $21.00 per <br />hour. After one-year of employment, Jeff will complete a Job Analysis Questionnaire in order for <br />the Fire Prevention Specialist position to be reviewed by the Personnel Committee. <br /> <br />On behalf of the Elk River Fire Department, I am excited to welcome Jeff Smith as the new Fire <br />Prevention Specialist. <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />I am requesting City Council approval for the hiring of Jeff Smith as Fire Prevention Specialist <br />beginning January 3, 2005 with starting wage at $20.00 per hour and with benefits consistent with <br />the City of Elk River Personnel Policy. After successful completion of a 6-month orientation period, <br />Jeff's pay will be adjusted to $21.00 per hour. <br />
