w
Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Theresa Slominski—Finance and Office Manager
John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
June 14, 2016 6.1b
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
Next week we will have Eric Minard from NISC at our office to review some Customer Care &
Billing issues Tuesday through Thursday, June 14-16. Additionally, on Thursday, June 16, a
two-person team from a new software platform through NISC (called iVUE Connect)will be
here to work with staff one-on-one as they observe our testing the utilization of this new
platform. Given we have so many services, they wanted to observe its performance in this
environment, and we feel good about them reaching out to us for this type of testing.
The property and liability insurance renewal application is complete and the new certificate
should be delivered next week just in time for the renewal of July 1St
Through our health care insurance broker I was invited to a very interesting presentation on
alternative health care options that have evolved with technology. There were three
presentations: 1) Increased utilization of online/web-based consultations for minor services and
searching for best health care options via phone and ipad applications 2)Alternative clinic
"visits"for in-the-home options and online, and 3)An elite doctor network available for
advanced second opinions and acute care recommendations. All three presentations were viable
options that help to drive insurance costs down and more information will be available later in
the summer as we receive health insurance renewals.
Jennie Biorn, Michelle Martindale, Jessica Rahn, Christy Schallock, and Meridee Romie
attended the 2016 Munici-Pals Spring Workshop May 14 in Eagan, MN. Their education reports
are attached.
ATTACHEMENTS:
• Jennie Biorn Education Report
• Michelle Martindale Education Report
• Jessica Rahn Education Report
'POWERED BY
Page 1 of 2 NATURE
Reliable Public'
Power Provider P OWERED T O S ERV E
324
