Elk River Public Library Board Page 4
March 22,2016
-----------------------------
5.7 Patron Services Supervisors Report
Brandi reported she did not have any additional news since she completed
her report. Page 2 of the report shows an example of the new catalog search
platform. There will be more search levels and more browsing but the final
look will be a little less `academic-looking'. The public mobile website is
planned to go live this summer.
5.8 Library Services Coordinator Report
■ Will reported that since he sent out his report the library has now
raised over $400 in their "high five" fundraising campaign.
■ As part of his local action plan, Elk River decided to focus on the
55+ age group as its target audience. They will begin outreach next
month but some ideas are: 1) ERTV announcements; 2) Having a
Sherburne County public health nurse onside for free monthly talks
on different subjects of interest to this age group; 3) They already
have an AARP tax aid onsite Tues/Thurs from 9:30-12:30 to
complete tax returns and file them. They get over 500 people a year
that come for this service.
5.9 GRRL Trustee Report
■ Mary was appointed to the Fund Development committee and their first task
is to develop a plan of attack.
■ She talked to a patron from Princeton in Sherburne County who brought up
the question of regional lines. They had concern for disabled persons, elderly
people and children getting library services.
■ Brandi mentioned if the GRRL restructure goes as planned they will get an
outreach librarian who will be looking at serving the homebound, elderly and
disabled and have talked about having book clubs at assisted living facilities.
6.0 Adjournment
Councilman Olsen said he reports to Council at the first meeting of each month, so
if anyone has library board news they want him to report to council, send him an
email before the meeting.
There being no further business, Chair Dietz adjourned the meeting of the Elk River
Public Library Board at 6:50 p.m.
Minutes submitted by Laura Wetch.
Tina Allard, City NATUREJ
