It establishes specific policies for all county parks related to land <br />acquisition, facility development, funding, and management. The "Parks Policy Plan" <br />is a chapter within Dakota County 2020, the County's Comprehensive Plan, originally <br />prepared in 1970 and last updated in 1999. The Parks Policy Plan: <br /> <br />. Describes Dakota County's role as a regional park implementing agency <br />within the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space System <br /> <br />. Articulates the County Board Vision and Mission Statement for Dakota <br />County Parks <br /> <br />. Provides an inventory of all parks and open spaces within the County and <br />gives a progress update on acquisition of County park land, <br /> <br />. Analyzes recreational trends in this region, <br /> <br />. Describes the methods for inviting citizen participation in the planning <br />process and summarizes the key issues and recommendations that <br />citizens provided, <br /> <br />. Identifies five major goals for Dakota County Parks, and outlines policies <br />and strategies for reaching these goals <br /> <br />1. Assess public expectations for parks and open space <br />opportunities <br /> <br />2. Acquire and develop a premier system of parks and trails <br /> <br />3. Provide a safe and well-maintained park system <br /> <br />4. Preserve and restore natural resources within the parks <br /> <br />5. Provide outdoor education and recreation for park visitors <br /> <br />.
