<br />. Create vital, well-planned neighborhoods
<br />. Encourage mixed-income developments by providing a range of housing types
<br />. Encourage a mix of compatible uses including community facilities, recreational space, retail
<br />and others
<br />. Minimize subsidies needed to create affordable homes
<br />. Reduce development costs through the most efficient use of land
<br />. Reduce home construction costs
<br />. Work with local public officials to reduce regulatory barriers to affordable housing

<br />TYPES OF ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

<br />Greater Minnesota Housing Fund awards a technical assistance grant to qualified projects to
<br />cover the costs of professional services related to:
<br />
<br />. site selection and site design
<br />. public infrastructure planning
<br />. home designs
<br />. working with local public officials to reduce regulatory barriers to affordable housing
<br />
<br />The assistance is provided by GMHF staff and GMHF contract architects,
<br />
<br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<br />
<br />When applying for technical assistance funding, it is helpful for the applicant and the city in
<br />which the development is proposed to understand the minimum requirements for full project
<br />funding. Applicants for technical assistance should be interested in pursuing cost-reduction
<br />strategies, such as modest-sized lots and narrower street widths, and in implementing one or
<br />more value-added strategies, such as basic neighborhood landscaping and more traditional
<br />home designs, Applicants will be asked to sign a Techni",/ Assistance Agreement before technical
<br />assistance funding is committed to a project, Please refer to the following pages for the
