Eclty1� ,.,�� Request for Action <br /> River <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 9.6 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Work Session Aril 18, 2016 Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Pinewood Golf Course Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hecker <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Discuss and provide staff direction regarding Pinewood Golf Course. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> With the recent resolution to the Pinewood Golf Course litigation, direction is needed to for 2016 <br /> operations. <br /> The Council will also need to consider funding sources for the final purchase. Closing is expected in mid- <br /> May. <br /> Operational costs and capital expenditures were not budgeted for 2016. To date,neither the City Council <br /> nor the Parks and Recreation Commission have had formal discussions regarding the future of the <br /> property. <br /> Options for the course include,but are not limited to: <br /> 1) Maintain the course in current state for the 2016 season and further discuss future <br /> a. Include community discussion forums <br /> b. Utilize market studies <br /> c. Review all course options <br /> d. Consider taxpayer subsidy level <br /> 2) Operate the course similar to 2006-12 <br /> a. Direct the hiring of a superintendent and staff <br /> b. Solicit/Develop a network of volunteers to operate and maintain the course <br /> 3) Market RFPs for private-market golf lease <br /> 4) Market the course for sale to potential developer(s) <br /> a. Stipulate golf course use only <br /> b. Stipulate number/type residences and city park vision <br /> 5) Maintain the property in current state for potential multi-purpose community center <br /> Leases and sales may require public notices and bid/quote solicitation. <br /> The Council will also want to consider how to fund the payment for the course. Originally, the previous <br /> Council planned to split the cost between Park Dedication Funds and other city,non-taxpayer funds. <br /> POWERED 6T <br /> A IR <br />
