1993 Work Program Page 2 <br /> December 8, 1992 <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT NEWSLETTER - Continue distributing the <br /> quarterly newsletter and add to its mailing list. <br /> INDUSTRY CALL PROGRAM - Continue the informal program of <br /> contacting Minnesota industries to determine their expansion, <br /> relocation, or consolidation plans. <br /> STAR CITY ACTIVITIES - <br /> - Work towards achieving DTED' s Star City recertification <br /> - Attend and participate in Star City conferences <br /> - Participate in one or more business retention activities <br /> INDUSTRIAL COUNCIL - Continue to participate with the Elk <br /> River Industrial Council as this group continues to meet on a <br /> periodic basis . <br /> CERTIFIED DEVELOPMENT COMPANY - Explore the possibility of <br /> establishing a County-wide SBA certified development company, <br /> or, facilitate the expansion of an existing development company <br /> into Sherburne County. A certified development company has <br /> many advantages - including the ability to package and access <br /> loans through the Small Business Administration. While a <br /> development company exclusively for Elk River may be too small, <br /> a company that serves the entire County may be appropriate. <br /> 411-- PUBLIC INFORMATION TO COMMUNITY - Sponsor or jointly-sponsor <br /> workshops, speakers, forums, or seminars that contain topics of <br /> interest to specific groups (i.e. retailers, service providers, <br /> etc) or the general public. Utilize the EDA as a sounding <br /> board or as a disseminator of information. <br /> 1993 LEGISLATIVE ISSUES <br /> Staff will monitor proposed legislation during the upcoming <br /> session which may have an impact on economic development <br /> activities. <br />
