Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk-Water Superintendent John Dietz—Chair Al Nadeau—Vice Chair Daryl Thompson—Trustee MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: March 15, 2016 6.1e SUBJECT: Staff Update DISCUSSION: • Delivered three new residential water meters. • Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from four water services. • Went on ten service calls. • Completed 25 BACTIITota1 Chlorine Residual Samples o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples o All samples met MDH standards. • The water operators continued to prepare Well#3 for sandblasting and painting. This was a very involved process. They had to remove anything that could be damaged by the sandblasting. The painter is required to be completed by April 1; at that point the water operators will begin to reinstall all of the equipment inside of the well. We will have EH Renner reinstall the new vertical line shaft turbine. The well will be up and running in time for hydrant flushing, scheduled for the second week of May. • Josh, Phil, and Amy from the Parks Department came in and performed some tree removal and brush hogging around Well#3. They did an excellent job. Huge thanks to them. I attached some before and after pictures. • Nick Adams filled the vacant water operator position. His first day of work was February 18. • Dave Ninow attended Minnesota Rural Water Associations' (MRWA)Water& Wastewater Technical Conference March 1-3 in St. Cloud,MN, and Mike Langer attended Minnesota Municipal Utilities Associations' (MMUA) First Line Supervision Program February 24-26 in Plymouth, MN. Their education reports are attached.
