.(.1 NITEM NO. 6
X
tity of
iR
•
River TO: Economic Development Authority
FROM: Pat Klaers, City Administrato
r9
DATE: May 8, 1995
SUBJECT: Industrial Park Lot Public Hearing
A public hearing is scheduled in order to consider the proposed EDA sale of
Lot 8, Block 1, Elk River Industrial Park to the School District. This public
hearing was scheduled at the direction of the EDA at its April 10, 1995,
meeting.
The School Board met on Tuesday, April 18, 1995, and directed Ron Bratlie
to work with the city regarding this possible transaction. Staff met with Ron
on Tuesday, April 25. At this meeting we reviewed the School District staffs
recommendation on the Industrial Park site, a concept for the building
project at the Industrial Park site, a school prepared analysis of the utilities
• and site preparation expenses, and some terms for any cash exchanges that
would be involved in this transaction.
Ron indicated to me that the school staff supports the Industrial Park site
and, under appropriate conditions, would be willing to make this
recommendation to the School Board.
I indicated to Ron that I would need our city engineer to verify the cost and
quantities involved in the analysis of the utility and site expenses. As the
EDA may recall, we offered to sell this Industrial Park site to the School
District for the difference between the utility and site expenses at the Oak
Knoll field location and the Industrial Park location. The dollar amount
would be capped at $45,000 at the high end and $30,000 at the low end.
At this time, staff does not know which way the School Board is leaning in
terms of purchasing the Industrial Park site or pursuing construction at the
Oak Knoll site, or if other options are under consideration.
II
13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
