To that end staff hosted a meeting <br /> on May 29th to solicit community support for Elk River's nomination. <br /> . To date, the EDA has received copies of letters of support for Elk River's <br /> nomination from Anoka Electric, Elk River Municipal Utilities, and United <br /> Power Association. Attached to this memo are additional letters of support <br /> from The Cretex Companies, Bank of Elk River, First National Bank, the <br /> County's economic development director, and NRG. Also Attached is a letter <br /> from the Elk River Municipal Utilities stating that they would be willing to <br /> buy excess wind generated electricity from a demonstration site. Staff <br /> anticipates additional letters of support from Minnegasco, Elk River Area <br /> Chamber of Commerce, the Elk River Builders Association, and the School <br /> District 728. <br /> Being selected the Sustainable City Showcase would be a significant step for <br /> the economic growth of this area.
