S
I. DEVELOPMENT OF PRIVATE PROPERTY
1. Downtown Commercial Redevelopment
An entire new block of commercial buildings is being proposed for the old
downtown. The block which runs along the Mississippi River and Main Street will
be renovated or completely raised. The redevelopment will focus on the river and
the theme created by the new cast iron lighting and streetscape.
2. Hotel
A new 42 unit Hotel will serve as a catalyst to attract new higher scale
development to the east end of Highway 10. The possibility of city services to the
• area will serve to create new economic opportunities to the area. The Hotel site is
another redevelopment project, replacing economically obsolete structures.
3. Other Redevelopment
The city anticipates additional redevelopment opportunities in the older
parts of downtown. Included are a new medical clinic and the relocation or
renovation of obsolete service stations and residential units.
4. New Industrial Space
Once city services are extended to the west end of the city, a new industrial
park will be built to make room for additional industrial growth.
•
13
