PUBLIC FACILITIES <br /> The city is concerned with providing cost effective water and sanitary sewer <br /> and storm sewer services to areas of the city designated for urban density <br /> development. Extension of such services is intended for use as a tool to direct urban <br /> expansion in an orderly manner. The city currently provides sanitary sewer, storm <br /> sewer, and water to a portion of its residents. The status of each system is as <br /> • follows: <br /> 1. Sanitary Sewer <br /> The city has a relatively new wastewater treatment plant, construction of <br /> which was completed in 1978. This facility is located between U.S. Highway 169 <br /> and the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks near the United Power plant. The <br /> hydraulic design capacity is 710,000 gallons per day. It is currently treating <br /> approximately 480,000 gallons per day or about 67 percent of capacity. The system <br /> serves approximately 900 residents, commercial, and industrial users within its <br /> service area. The system is comprised of 17 miles of sewer lines along which there <br /> are seven lift stations. <br /> • <br /> 5 <br />
