Your memorandum asked seven questions. The
answers to these are as follows:
CVL
ENGINEERING
ENVIRONMENTAL 1. Size of water line?
MUNICIPAL
•PLANNING
There are no water lines currently constructed in the extreme Western Area of Elk
SOLID WASTE River. The design calls for a main trunk line centered between County Road 30
STRUCTURAL and TH 10, which would be 12" to 16" diameter, and then a loop back along the
SURVEYING Trunk Highway 10 frontage with a slightly smaller watermain, which would be 10"
TRAFFIC to 12" diameter.
TRANSPORTATION
2. Is the water line looped?
ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL
ENGINEERING:
Yes, the design of the future system calls for all watermain in the Western Area
S RBUTION to be looped.
;:DA
SYSTEM CONTROLS 3. Water supply storage capacity?
The City has two 1,000,000 gallon storage tanks in the water system which would
serve the Western Area. One is located near TH 10 on Gary Street in the Western
Area. The other is located along TH 169 north of School Street. The water
system also has four wells, two which were built within the last four years with a
pumping capacity of 1,000 gallons per minute each, and two older wells, one
located along Highway 10 near the Chamber of Commerce Building and the other
on the Cretex property. These have a capacity of 650 gallons per minute and 800
OFFICES IN: gallons per minute.
• MINNEAPOLIS
PRIOR LAKE
ST.PAUL
WASECA
An Equal Opportunity Employer
