The purpose of this letter is to reaffirm the EDA's position that the Postal
Service retain a retail presence in the Central Business District. I have enclosed a
map identifying the boundaries of this district.
The EDA questioned whether the new site selected would be for both a carrier
annex and retail facility, or if it was just planned to house the carrier annex. Since
selection of the site had been made public, city staff has heard numerous comments
regarding the future accessibility of the Post Office as compared to its current
location in the heart of the Central Business District. I would like to relay such
comments as they certainly should be part of your decision making process when
determining the future location of this facility.
Lastly, I would like to request a meeting with you and other members of this project
as you would see appropriate. Several of my EDA Commissioners have requested
that they be in attendance at this meeting as well. Please call me at 612-441-4905
to set a time and date. I will be out of the office April 26 through April 30.
I look forward to hearing from you soon with regard to this project.
•
13065 Orono Parkway • P. O.
