ELK RIVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br /> • Item 7.2. <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Economic Development Authority <br /> FROM: Catherine Mehelich, Direct r <br /> Economic Development <br /> DATE: December 11, 2000 <br /> SUBJECT: Marketing Agreements/Key Accounts Update <br /> Staff has been working on the following projects outlined in the Strategic Industrial <br /> Marketing Plan: <br /> Marketing Agreements West Business Park <br /> Staff has been in contact with the primary owners of the Gagne property to discuss the <br /> possibility of entering into a marketing agreement for their parcel. A local developer has <br /> indicated interest in the property. Staff is working with the developer to develop a project <br /> that would provide land and/or buildings for smaller light industrial businesses. <br /> • <br /> Staff has also received notice from Stewart Wilson indicating that the Wilson family has <br /> elected to market the property through a major private real estate broker. Staff will be <br /> working closely with the broker to market the property when the listing agreement is <br /> completed. The broker has been identified as one of the Key Accounts within the Strategic <br /> Industrial Marketing Plan. <br /> Key Accounts <br /> One of the strategies within the Strategic Industrial Marketing Plan includes establishing a <br /> relationship with attached list of key accounts._The Key Account strategy has been <br /> identified as a priority for lead generation,moreover than the advertising strategy. The <br /> purpose for the relationship is to inform the key decision-makers that the City of Elk River <br /> is "Open for Business" and to enhance the city's credibility as a player in the economic <br /> development field. The outreach strategy for building the relationships is regular contact <br /> with the identified top 10 key accounts. <br /> Staff has met most recently with United Properties and Kraus-Anderson,who have both <br /> indicated interest in finding industrial property in Elk River. Staff provided a tour of the <br /> East and West Business Parks along with redevelopment site opportunities. Key accounts <br /> such as these will be contacted by the assigned staff on a monthly basis for updates on <br /> development activity and opportunities in Elk River. Staff is formatting a"Development <br /> Activity Update" flyer that will be sent out quarterly to the key accounts to let them know <br /> the most current development activities and opportunities in Elk River. <br /> Attachment: Key Account List from Strategic Industrial Marketing Plan <br /> 13065 Orono Parkway • P.
