Memo to EDA re Business Park Standards
October 8,2001
Page 2
• 1. Warehouse space up to 50%of the entire building or 50%of an individual tenant space
in a multi-tenant building.
2. Showroom uses.
3. Repair and maintenance uses excluding auto repair.
Also proposed are definitions for warehouse and office/showroom uses.
Mr.Martens has submitted a letter outlining his position regarding the language proposed by
staff. Specifically, under the conditional use permit amendment, he would like to see a
higher percentage allowed than 65 percent and he would also like to aggregate the warehouse
space in a building and eliminate the analysis of individual tenants in a multi-tenant building.
Staff continues to be concerned that the intent of generating high numbers of jobs in the
Business Park District is being "watered down" even by the language proposed by staff.
Recommendation
Staff requests that the Economic Development Authority review the attached information
and provide direction to staff regarding the amendments to the Business Park District.
•
•
S:\PLANNING\MICHMC\MEMOS\EDABPstandards.doc
