Item # 7 <br /> ELK RIVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Economic Development Authority <br /> FROM: Cathy Mehelich, Director of Economic Development <br /> DATE: March 12, 2001 <br /> SUBJECT: Marketing Plan Update <br /> West Business Park <br /> Staff is working with a developer for the acquisition and development of the 18-acre Gagne <br /> property. In the last month staff has received inquiries for available 2-3 acre development <br /> sites. It is anticipated that the Gagne property will be subdivided to accommodate small to <br /> medium sized businesses. <br /> Marketing Materials/ Website <br /> Printing of the new folder and fact sheets should be completed for presentation at the April <br /> EDA meeting. The new folder and fact sheets are designed in coordination with the <br /> di communication strategy/logo project. Staff will also present the updated Economic <br /> Development Department website at the April EDA meeting. <br /> Key Accounts <br /> Staff continues to follow-up with the key accounts identified late last year. The new <br /> marketing materials will be distributed to the key accounts upon completion in April. The <br /> folder will include updated community profile information and fact sheets on Elk River's <br /> Business Parks. <br /> Customer Service & Siting/Expansion Process <br /> Staff from the various departments that are most closely involved with industrial <br /> development projects have completed the mapping of the Industrial Siting/Expansion <br /> Process. The mapping process has provided staff an opportunity to learn more about the <br /> role each department plays in the development process and ways to better communicate <br /> expectations with an industrial client. The process has resulted in the creation of <br /> communication tools such as a Customer Requirements form, which will assist in the <br /> identification of prospect needs,timeframe and decision-making. A proposal outline is also <br /> being completed to create a consistent,complete and professional sales tool for industrial <br /> prospects. <br /> • <br /> 13065 Orono Parkway P. O.
