5.6 Green Corps <br /> The MN Green Corps applications are available for 2016/2017 year. Please see the <br /> attachment for more information and sectors covered. Discuss possible recommendations to <br /> staff/City Council for project ideas and application for a member. <br /> 5.7 Energy City Signage <br /> In the past, the ECC has discussed signage related to project specific examples as an <br /> education resource. Discuss budget availability and possible project ideas. <br /> 6.1 Cedar Creek—Jake Spiess <br /> Jake is the Project Developer for Cedar Creek Energy, a commercial,residential, and <br /> community solar installer also focusing on lighting and electrical upgrades. Tom and Kristin <br /> met with Jake on the 10th to discuss solar regulations causing bumps in the road for city <br /> installations.Jake also has information to share on the City of Morris who has elected third <br /> party solar on a city facility roof. <br /> 6.2 BioDigestor—Melanie Waite-Altringer—Anoka-Ramsey Community College <br /> Professor Melanie Waite-Altringer would like to discuss a possible opportunity for <br /> collaboration between Elk River and Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Melanie is <br /> applying for a grant for a bio-digester and hopes to research feedstock production.The <br /> college is unable to provide a location on site so Melanie is reaching out to Elk River for a <br /> location to provide the EUCOlino digester. Discuss possible site locations and make a <br /> recommendation to City Council for or against collaboration. <br /> 8.2 Staff Updates <br /> The Board and Commission Appreciation Dinner will be held at Rockwoods Banquet <br /> Center on February 25 at 6:00 p.m. RSVPs should have been sent to Jessica. <br /> The Sustainable Communities Partnership continues to make progress. Kristin met with a <br /> class that will be researching and making recommendations on plastic bag reduction. <br /> Brandon Wisner (Stormwater Coordinator) and Kristin met with a class that will be <br /> researching and making recommendations for a green roof at the Waste Water Treatment <br /> Facility. Kristin will also be partnering with the City of Delano to assist with their B3 <br /> Benchmarking. We are also working on scoping a project for a solar picnic table which will <br /> provide a charging station for phones and laptops to be placed in a city park. Finally,Tom <br /> Sagstetter and Kristin are coordinating efforts for a dam retrofit with an engineering group. <br /> Kristin attended the Climate Adaption Conference hosted by the UofM.
