C <br /> Vision <br /> Sherburne County is a place where there are numerous opportunities to incorporate physical activity <br /> into everyday life.The parks are destinations for healthy activity and connected by facilities that support <br /> comfortable walking and biking.The Sherburne County Park,Trail,and Active Living Plan will lead to <br /> efficient implementation and operation of county parks,a comprehensive connected network of trails, <br /> increased use of parks and trails,and enhanced countywide health that fosters active living. <br /> Goals and Objectives <br /> Increase levels of active living in Sherburne County <br /> • Raise awareness of parks and trails as resources for physical activity <br /> • Educate residents, county staff, and officials about the benefits of active living <br /> • Build on the regional work of the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) <br /> • Promote trails as comfortable and active transportation facilities for people of all ages and <br /> abilities <br /> Enhance and increase the use of County Parks <br /> • Strive for long-term protection and viability of Sherburne County Parks for current and future <br /> generations of Sherburne County residents and visitors <br /> • Provide a diverse, robust, safe, and accessible set of recreation opportunities for residents and <br /> visitors of Sherburne County <br /> • Promote County Parks as an important part of the natural character and community amenities <br /> that make Sherburne County great <br /> • Respond to identified desires and needs that will increase the use and awareness of the parks <br /> Increase the connectivity of trails throughout the county <br /> • Identify priority trail routes and improvements to connect cities, parks, and other scenic and <br /> natural amenities <br /> • Provide opportunities to integrate trails with Complete Streets <br /> • Improve and expand communication about trails through trail maps, route signage, and <br /> wayfinding <br /> • Encourage regular coordination with the state, cities, townships, Minnesota DNR, Sherburne <br /> County Wildlife Refuge and other stakeholders <br /> • Support collaboration with other regional efforts to increase the connectivity of active <br /> transportation corridors <br />
