Funded by state and federal government, labor unions, and <br /> employers, MNSCU provides nearly 95 percent of the state's training for dislocated <br /> workers. <br /> Itasca County's Itasca Development Corp. (IDC) has agreed to purchase Cohasset's <br /> Technimar building, with plans to turn the site into a business incubator. IDC <br /> secured funding for the $2 million deal from grants and loans from the Blandin <br /> Foundation, the Northland Foundation, and the Iron Range Resources and <br /> Rehabilitation Agency. According to IDC, the 109,000-square-foot facility will be <br /> renovated to accommodate about 10 manufacturing businesses, unless a single <br /> tenant is found. IDC officials hope that the facility will bring 75 to 150 new jobs to <br /> the area when it opens to tenants in July of this year. <br /> Hibbing Taconite Co. has received a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of <br /> Energy to upgrade low-grade iron ore by in-pit crushing and cobbing. The project <br /> will be conducted jointly by Hibbing Taconite Co., the Minnesota Department of <br /> Natural Resources, Coleraine Mineral Research Lab, Metso Minerals, and Cleveland <br /> Cliffs. <br /> IKONICS Corp.,a Duluth-based imaging company, has announced that it has filed a <br /> patent application for its IkonMetal imaging technology, which it has been <br /> developing for more than a year.
