AMERICAN
r NATIONAL
ern ` BANK.,
MINNESOTA
Memo
To: Catherine Mehelich
From: Steve King, Manager
American National Bank of Elk River
Date: January 6,2004
Re: SERVICE ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEES
I would like to express my interest in providing service on two separate committees
that are of particular interest to me. I would like to serve on the EDA Finance
Committee and the EDA Business Incubator Advisory Committee.
In serving as Executive Director for the Dakota County Economic Development
Partnership from 1998 to 2002 I was also President of "Dakota County Capital" (a
small but tasteful revolving loan fund). This fund was created to facilitate light
manufacturing and industrial start up businesses achieve pre-bank funding. Often
financing was subordinated to direct bank lending in the form of participations.
Prior to Dakota County, I was the Vice President of Development for the Saint Paul
Port Authority. In this capacity I assisted manufacturing and technology companies
negotiate affordable leases and assisted with establishing criteria for eligibility of
corporations desiring relocation in Port Authority owned Business Parks.
I have over 19 years of retail and commercial banking experience. I understand
economic cost benefit models and have an interest in Elk River's economic
development programs and growth. I would be happy to answer any questions you
may have regarding my background.
Sincerely,
Steve King
•
•Page 1
