Consider Proposals for EDA Brown Property Development
March 14,2005 EDA Meeting
• Timing of Public Improvements/Buildable Lots
In the past several months the EDA has indicated an interest in initiating the public
improvement project as soon as possible in order to have buildable lots available by fall
2005. This schedule was driven in part by a proposed 100,000sf industrial expansion project
which has since been delayed for 18-months. The City Engineer,Terry Maurer has indicated
that in order to have lots buildable by fall the public improvement process would need to
begin in March, commencing with an EDA recommendation to City Council to authorize a
feasibility study be completed for the EDA Brown property.
Since the delay of the large industrial project and the proposed new concept design included
in at least one of the development proposals, staff requests the EDA's direction regarding
the desired timing of public improvements. The concept design would dictate the results of
the feasibility study. However, completing the feasibility study would not require the
EDA/City to proceed with the public improvement project.
Ehlers and staff will discuss with the EDA the options for the public improvement project.
•
410
