Introduction <br /> An Economic Development Strategy for Minnesota <br /> Successful economic development projects are generally a result of a number <br /> of different factors. <br /> EDAM recommends a strategic approach to Minnesota's economic develop- <br /> ment policies and legislation based on the following core economic develop- <br /> ment components: <br /> 1. Promoting business retention and expansion <br /> 2. Marketing to targeted industries <br /> 3. Supporting entrepreneurship <br /> 4. Providing financial tools for economic development <br /> 5. Building and maintaining infrastructure <br /> 6. Providing a trained and educated workforce <br /> EDAM will work with the Department of Employment and Economic <br /> Development (DEED), the Pawlenty Administration, legislators, and other <br /> interested organizations to establish a comprehensive economic develop- <br /> ment strategy for Minnesota and to create a forum in which theses entities <br /> may periodically review and revise the strategy. <br /> one <br />
