• losg 2 le May 20,2001 Linda Huntington 1105 Lion's Park Dr.#323 Elk River,MN 55330 Dear HRA Commissioners, It is with deep sadness that I am giving my resignation as a Commissioner on the Board of the HRA. The unexpected death of my brother last year sent my family into such turmoil. Unfortunately it does not seem to be ending. Never in my life have I had such absenteeism from something so important to me as I have had for my • HRA commitment. I seem to be running in every direction,including spending much of my time in Central Minnesota with my parents. I simply cannot continue to be spread so thin. I apologize for my lack of participation over the last several months. I feel I must step down so someone new can have the opportunity to represent our community. I had great hopes of eventually working towards creating affordable housing in Elk River. It is something that I did not hear addressed during my year of service. I believe we need transitional housing as well. At CAER I see clients that are homeless with no where to go. We send them either to St.Cloud or the Twin Cities to find shelter. At Abba Crisis Pregnancy Center,the young pregnant women with no where to go are also sent out of this community to St.Cloud. For families devastated by domestic violence,Rivers of Hope also refers folks to shelters out of Elk River. I think it's time we stop sending people out of their community for help. I would have loved the opportunity to see any of these types of housing situations created right here in Elk River.
