INFORMATION

MEMORANDUM

TO: Mayor and City Council

FROM: Bruce A. West, Fire Chief

DATE: October 4, 2004

SUBJECT: Update on Fire Department Station #1 Painting

I would like to provide the Mayor and City Council with an update on the painting project of Fire
Station 1. Bids were received and Bruce DeGrollier Painting was awarded the project. Painting on
the outside of the building has begun and is expected to be completed by Friday, October 1,2004.
Once the outside painting is completed, the painters will begin the painting of the entire inside of
Station 1; including offices, the meeting room, apparatus bay, hose tower, and workshop. The entire
project is expected to take 3-4 weeks.

The total cost of the painting of Station 1 is $27,500. The Mayor and City Council approved city
funds to pay for $20,000 of the project and the remaining $7,500 will be paid by the Elk River Fire
and Ambulance. I would like to thank the Elk River Fire and Ambulance for their generous
donation towards the Station 1 painting project.

If you have any questions regarding the painting at Fire Station 1, feel free to call me at the Elk
River Fire Department at 763-635-1105. Feel free to stop in and take a look at the painting if you
are in the area of Station 1.
