HRA Agenda Memo <br /> March 26,2001 Meeting <br /> Page 2 <br /> In the next month staff will be analyzing the inventory data to identify specific areas <br /> that the HRA may consider prime for redevelopment activity. Also in April, <br /> Maxfield Research,Inc.will be prepared to present the results of the market analysis. <br /> In May the recommended activity areas will be presented for discussion at a joint <br /> work session of the Planning Commission, HRA and River's Edge Downtown <br /> group. The work session should result in a consensus for specific redevelopment <br /> opportunities and priorities. <br /> Following the work session staff will draft an implementation plan based on the <br /> identified priorities. <br /> Staff has received preliminary interest for specific redevelopment projects within the <br /> downtown area. At this time,the property owner/developers are awaiting further <br /> direction to be provided by the Downtown Redevelopment Plan. <br /> 7. Economic Development Strategic Plan - Update <br /> The City adopted its Economic Development Strategic Plan in May 1997. The Plan <br /> was then revised in November 1999 for another three-year cycle commencing 2000. <br /> It is appropriate to briefly revisit the Economic Development Strategic Plan on an <br /> annual basis for the following purposes: <br /> • • Affirm the major issues and goals <br /> • Review accomplished activities <br /> • Review remaining activities <br /> The attached revised Economic Development Strategic Plan includes four major <br /> issues and goals: <br /> • Industrial Base <br /> Attract new businesses to increase the City's industrial base <br /> • Business Retention and Growth <br /> Retain and grow the City's existing business/industry <br /> • Marketing Strategy <br /> Create an industrial marketing strategy to develop the City's business parks <br /> • Develop/Redevelop East Hwy 10 &the Central Business District <br /> Undertake activities to facilitate development/redevelopment on East <br /> Highway 10 and in the Central Business District <br /> The City,EDA and HRA have accomplished many of the Plan activities within the <br /> last year. Namely the following items: <br /> • Development of Tony Emmerich property (SoftPac Industries, Inc.) <br /> • <br />
