The <br /> process assesses constituencies' needs, examines <br /> organizational strengths and weaknesses, establishes <br /> priorities, and develops strategies and action plans to meet <br /> the expectations of the stakeholders. More importantly,it <br /> allows the organization to develop a mission statement <br /> which encourages a more logical and rational approach to <br /> decision-making. <br /> St.Louis Park Community-Wide Visioning Process <br /> The Brimeyer Group led a Steering Committee of 37 <br /> members to develop"Vision St.Louis Park." The effort <br /> was to initiate a Strategic Planning process designed to <br /> challenge the public and private sectors to cooperatively <br /> envision the community's preferred future. Through the <br /> • efforts of the Steering Committee, eight major areas were <br /> identified to become the focus of community efforts for the <br /> next five- 15 years. Those areas were then examined by <br /> eight separate Task Forces consisting of 20-30 members <br /> each who were asked to identify expected results of the <br /> process and bow performance would be measured. The <br /> results were included in a document which was sent to <br /> 14,000 households in St.Louis Park. The Management <br /> Committee recently established an Outcomes Committee <br /> which is in the process of developing performance <br /> measurements to determine whether or not the City is <br /> meeting the vision. <br /> City of EIk River Strategic Plan for Economic <br /> Development <br /> This recent plan resulted in the development of a Mission <br /> Statement. Results from this process include major <br /> rezonings of properties to expand the City's industrial base <br /> and proposals to reinvest and develop Elk River's central <br /> business district utilizing the Mississippi corridor as a main <br /> attraction. There is a major effort by the Elk River <br /> Chamber of Commerce to deal with business retention and <br /> • growth. <br />
