Housing and Redevelopment Authority Page 2 <br /> October 26, 1998 <br /> • Paul Steinman indicated that the next meeting relating to the central business <br /> district will take place in January 1999. <br /> 5. Discuss Midwest Building Components- King and Main Project <br /> Terry Veech and Clark Carlson of Midwest Building Components addressed the <br /> HRA regarding the progress of the development proposal for the King and Main <br /> site. Mr. Carlson indicated that there are several parties interested in leasing the <br /> building approximately one year from now. Discussion was held regarding the <br /> cost per square foot for leasing the building and what it would take for the <br /> developer to proceed with the project. Terry Veech indicated that a letter of <br /> intent for occupancy of approximately one third of the building would allow him <br /> to proceed with the building plans. <br /> It was noted by Mr. Veech that Midwest Building Components would continue to <br /> search for tenants. <br /> 6.1. Post Office Discussion <br /> Executive Director Paul Steinman stated that the local post office has requested <br /> that a public hearing be scheduled to propose moving from its original site to a <br /> larger facility somewhere in the City of Elk River. He indicated that the post office <br /> is looking for a site of about 2 to 3 acres of land. Paul Steinman indicated that the <br /> public hearing is scheduled for November 9 at 6 p.m. and will be held by the <br /> Economic Development Authority. He suggested that the HRA attend the public <br /> • hearing to give its input regarding the effect of moving the post office from the <br /> core area of downtown. <br /> COMMISSIONER HINKLE MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HRA FOR <br /> NOVEMBER 9, 1998, 6 P.M. AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL TO ATTEND THE EDA PUBLIC <br /> HEARING FOR THE POST OFFICE. COMMISSIONER TOTH SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 7. Adjournment <br /> There being no further business, COMMISSIONER HINKLE MOVED TO ADJOURN THE <br /> MEETING. COMMISSIONER TOTH SECONDED THE MOTION.
