HRA Meeting Minutes
March 24, 1997
Page 2
• Dennis Chuba, Developer of the project, identified some of the possible tenants
that he has been in contact with. He indicated he has received a lot of interest
from small users, but has no commitment for a main user and stated that without
a key tenant locked in, he cannot finance the project. Dennis Chuba suggested
that the HRA consider opening the project up to other developers. After
discussing the situation, it was the consensus of the Commissioners present not to
open the project up to other developers at this time. Commissioner Wilson
suggested putting up a sign on the site, following completion of the demolition,
advertising availability of the site.
COMMISSIONER WILSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT TO INCUR EXPENSES NOT TO EXCEED$300 FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PLACING A SIGN ON THE SITE ADVERTISING AVAILABILITY. COMMISSIONER
KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3-0.
5.2. Strategic Planning Meeting with City Council
Paul Steinman informed the Commissioners that a meeting has been scheduled
for April 21, from 5- 6 p.m. to discuss the final strategic plan document. He
indicated that the City of Elk River has been allocated funding in the amount of
approximately$234,000 to be used for 1st time home buyers. He stated that there
is a good chance that more funding will be allocated at a later date. He also
informed the Commissioners that the City has received much interest in the
program from surrounding lenders.
7.
