Bruce Anderson(R-Buffalo) <br /> To allow the construction of a new nuclear-powered electric generating unit in Monticello. <br /> STATUS: SF 536 received an informational hearing in the Senate Environment and Energy <br /> Committee,but no official action was taken. HF 338 did not receive a hearing in the House. <br /> CON EXEMPTIONS FOR NATURAL GAS FACILITIES SELLING POWER OUT OF STATE <br /> HF 341 Rep. Chris Swedzinski (R-Ghent) <br /> SF 237 Sen. Julie Rosen(R-Vernon Center) <br /> To exempt natural gas-powered electric generation facilities that do not sell output to wholesale <br /> or retail customers in Minnesota from the requirement to obtain a certificate of need. <br /> STATUS: This bill received hearings in both the House and Senate,but ultimately was not <br /> included in either body's energy omnibus bills. <br /> LEC ENERGY FUTURES FRAMEWORK FUNDING IN LCCMR BILL <br /> HF 390 Rep. Paul Torkelson(R-Hanska) <br /> SF 698 Sen. Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis) <br /> To provide the Legislative Energy Commission with a$1 million appropriation for data <br /> collection and analysis to develop strategies to increase energy efficiency and the use of clean <br /> energy in Minnesota. This funding would come from the environmental trust fund, and was <br /> recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources. Numerous other <br /> appropriations related to habitat, forestry,water quality, and parks and trails were included in <br /> this bill. <br /> STATUS: The funding for the LEC was removed before the LCCMR bill was passed into law <br /> (2015 Session Laws, Chapter 76). <br /> LEC ASSESSMENT CHANGE <br /> HF 492 Rep. Jim Newberger(R-Becker) <br /> SF 726 Sen. Dave Brown(R-Becker) <br /> To modify the assessment formula for the Legislative Energy Commission and collect 34 percent <br /> from companies that manufacture renewable energy technologies. The assessment percentage <br /> from utilities would be decreased from 50 to 33 percent. <br /> STATUS: This language was initially included in the draft House jobs/energy omnibus bill,but <br /> was removed before the bill's passage out of committee.
