He suggested
that an increase would be justified on
this basis.
Paul Motin, who requested data on
comparable communities be com-
piled, agrees. He said a cost-of-living

increase may be appropriate at this
time.
Coundl members are not "in it for
the money, but I don't think (council
wages) wages have to be kept at the
same level," Motin said.
The last time coundl wages were
increased was in 1995 and before that
it was in 1991, according to City
Administrator Pat Klaers.
Farber said he thought more time
than that had passed since the last
increase.
Coundl Member John Dietz advised
against increases at this time.
"It seems like we're in line (with
other councils)," Dietz said after

reviewing the chart prepared by
administration.
He also noted that the council has
gone from having four regularly
scheduled meetings a month to three.
Council Member Daryl Thompson
said he would like to take some time
to think about the matter before a
derision is made.
The council agreed to postpone the
discussion until later. It will come
back later this year, sometime before
budget talks get under way.
Mayor Stephanie Klinzing was
absent from the May 22 meeting due
to an illness.

Count# salaries at a glance

City Popul21ion Mayor Council
AndoVer 23~000 $~i800 : $616S0
Stillwater 16,000 $7,200 $6,000

Fergus Falls 13,000 $10,500 $6,600

City Population Mayor
Rosemount 13,000 $4,200

Savage: 17,000:$6;!20
Shakopee 16,000 $6,588

Owatonna 21,000 $9,000 $7,200
wtma~ : :i8:iOOO
Worthington 10,000 $7,500 $4,500

Anoka 17,000 $4,200 $3,570

aska 15,000 $4,500 $3,600
Hastings 17,000 $6,600 $4,800

N.
