Additionally, Councilmember Motin <br />requested that some data be provided on comparable communities. Any <br />changes in City Council and Mayor wages needs to be done by ordinance and <br />prior to the election in order for it to be effective in 2001. Attached is a <br />sample ordinance that can be "filled in" and approved at the discretion of the <br />City Council. <br /> <br />A brief survey was faxed/e-mailed to a number of communities with similar <br />populations and, as necessary, some information was found in the most <br />recent League of Minnesota Cities salary survey. The results are compiled on <br />the attached survey summary. Also attached is some historical information <br />regarding City Council meetings in Elk River. The council should note two <br />things in regard to this information: 1) a number of the special meetings are <br />taking place either immediately before or immediately after regular council <br />meetings or are for such things as Chamber events, parades, volunteer <br />appreciation night, etc., and 2) it is well acknowledged that many additional <br />hours, other than meeting hours, are spent by the Mayor and City Council on <br />city business. <br /> <br />s:councfl/ccsalry <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
